stuff on top of stuff stuffed in stuff

Let’s face it. I’m craft happy.  I love to make stuff.  I love to get ideas to make stuff. I love to buy stuff to make stuff. Stuff that inspires me, stuff thats on sale, stuff that comes in multiple colors. Stuff to make the stuff I make with. Stuff to wrap the stuff I make in. the list goes on and on.

And I buy it everywhere – online, craft stores, bead stores, yarn stores, walmart, Michaels, AC Moore, Jo-Ann, fabric stores, hardware stores, yard sales – if its shiny, if it can be strung , wire-wrapped, knitted, crocheted, glued or sewn – most likely it is in my possession.

So whats the problem? All my stuff is getting in the way of my creating and selling. I have stuff on top of stuff stuffed in stuff. And I am getting custom orders daily for new stuff. Organization is neccessary and inevitable for the heath of my business and my own well being.

People often ask me where I find my beads. Usually I tend to be vague. I get some online, some at local shops. But there is one constant that I have always counted on for all of my important projects. My secret beadstore – Don’t eat beads on artfire.

Here are some of my favorites that Danielle has listed right now:

Picasso beads

wire wrapped ring

baroque beads

Danielle has an amazing, ever growing selection of beads. Also if you are looking for something special she knows just how to find it. Her wire wrapped rings are extraordinary and reasonably priced starting at just $6.  I know I just gave you a taste of what’s available. So here is how you can buy from Danielle:

Danielle  is currently located in Waco, Texas and lives in her home with her boyfriend, 3 dogs, and bunnies.

new laptop, new blog, new beginnings

I have been making excuses about not writing for years. At first, it was because of school. I have too much homework to do. Too many papers. As an English major, I wrote constantly.  If only I didn’t have all these mandatory assignments I would spend all of my free time writing.  Well, I graduated. Two years ago! and I havent written a blink since. Unless you string tweets and facebook rants together – and that might get you a page or two – maybe.

My more recent excuses have been due to computer sharing – and now I have a laptop – so excuses are now inexcusable.

What have I actually been doing? making stuff. lots of pretty pretty stuff. Jewelry mostly. But also, bookmarks, keychains, cell phone charms, scarfs, armwarmers, you name it I can make it. And I sell it too. In fact I am so overwhelmed by my orders, that part of the reason I got this laptop is to help organize my inventory.  I really want to take my “hobby” to the next level and turn it into a business.  How can I do this with a full time job, a husband that I barely see as it is, trying to get pregnant, helping out with my elderly grandmother, two mischevous cats,  and all of my girl friends spread throughout the country? what does this have to do with writing? everything.

This blog is dedicated to writing about crafting. How I do what I do. Why I do it. What inspires me. How to sell it. How I try to sell it. Who I admire. Who helps me along the way. How I can help you. Follow this blog to watch my journey as I craft a business.
